I actually really enjoyed Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. The art is utterly amazing too, so that helps.

I liked Flex Mentallo?

I liked We3, All Star Superman, some New X-Men (Murder at the Mansion arc).  I hear his Animal Man is very good, I haven’t had a chance to read it yet.

New X-Men was brilliant and dense but sprawls over 40 issues. Marvel Boy is wonderful and easy to pick up and makes for a great origin story/deconstruction of superhero tropes. Skrull-Kill-Krew is ridiculously funny and delves into racial and gender identities, but only read if you are already familiar with the Krew and the events of secret invasion.
