hello yes im German and eating pretzels is cultural appropriation. German culture items are often used to criticize Germany and contribute to an overall negative stereotype of German people as nazis, so when u steal our dying culture you become part of the problem. Also I find beer drinking very offensive and if you drink any German brands and you’re not German feel free to fuck yourself.

Now do you realize how ridiculous “cultural appropriation” is?

Cultural appropriation is an anthropological concept supported by decades of research and there are over a quarter million scholarly books and articles discussing it in academic fields as varied as anthropology, sociology, law, political science, social psychology and philosophy. It is very much ‘real’ whether you acknowledge it or not.

“Two ways in which cultural appropriation can be harmful are easily identified. The first sort of harm is violation of a property right … The second sort of harm is an attack on the viability or identity of the cultures or their members. Appropriation that undermines a culture in these ways would certainly cause devastating and clearly wrongful harm to members of the culture … Other acts of appropriation potentially leave members of a culture exposed to discrimination, poverty and lack of opportunity.” – from The Ethics of Cultural Appropriation (edited by Young and Brunk)

Cultural appropriation is “Taking intellectual property, traditional knowledge, cultural expressions, or artifacts from someone else’s culture without permission … when the source community is a group that has been oppressed or exploited in other ways or when the object of appropriation is particularly sensitive, e.g. sacred objects.” (from Who Owns Culture?: Appropriation and Authenticity in American Law by Fordham law professor Susan Scafidi), and seeing as Germans are not an oppressed or exploited group AND neither pretzels nor beer are ‘sensitive or sacred objects,” they can’t be appropriated.

Next time when you’re trying to be a smart ass at least research the thing first, k?

Yeah. There was a guy I really wanted to be friends with. But he turned out to be very mean and accused me of things that were only going on in his own imagination. Now I’m jittered and scared and wishing I could get the memory of the way he treated me out of my thoughts.

Sense8 would be amazing if it were real. Someone else in my cluster would be like “help! I’m trapped in this room and the only way to get out is by making a shitty meme.”
And I’d just pop in and be like “I got this.”
