shoutout to Facebook trying to erase history

The fifteenth amendment was passed in 1870, but the voting rights act wasn’t passed until 1965. So technically black women got the right to vote exactly when white women did, but in many states they were barred by Jim Crow laws. I’ve now seen this issue used to drag people both ways (Black people got the right to vote in 1870! “Hunny you mean black men oooooooooo”). Maybe we need to stop oversimplifying this and address the particulars.

Cuz facebook wasn’t wrong or trying to erase anything in this particular case.
