Where are people getting this “29 years ago” number from? Harry is like, 18!
He was 18 in book 7, which isn’t set in the present. Basically, thanks to a number of dates JKR mentions in the book, it can be deduced that Harry was born in 1980, and the books take place throughout the 1990s
